LFX Push Rod Bearings

In the bottled beverage industry, rotary filling machines operate under demanding, high-speed conditions where reliability and continuous throughput are critical. In this application, push rod bushes were required to withstand constant motion and repetitive wear within a rotary filling system processing approximately 400 bottles per minute. Traditionally manufactured from bronze, the bushes were reviewed using CAMSAD (Computer Aided Material Selection and Design) criteria to identify a more efficient and longer-lasting engineering material solution capable of improving operational performance in a fast-paced production environment. By reducing downtime associated with bush wear and maintenance while improving machine efficiency and reliability, the customer was able to maintain higher production output and minimise costly interruptions to the filling process.

Ertalon LFX was selected as the preferred replacement material due to its self-lubricating properties, low friction characteristics, and outstanding wear resistance. By replacing the bronze bushes with Ertalon LFX, the customer benefits include reduced maintenance requirements, improved component longevity, and smoother machine operation without the need for continuous lubrication. Backed by Dotmar’s engineering plastics expertise, material selection knowledge, and application support capabilities, the solution demonstrates how advanced polymer technologies can successfully enhance productivity and reliability in high-speed food and beverage manufacturing environments.
