LFX Bearings in Potato Trucks

Ertalon LFX In Conveyor Belt Rollers for Potato Trucks

In potato processing operations, trucks with bulk bins transport potatoes from the paddock to the processing plant. These trucks use a “walking floor” system – essentially a belt conveyor fitted with a series of rollers underneath – to move the potatoes along. The rollers are supported by bearings that, in this case, are made from Ertalon LFX. Operating conditions are extremely demanding, with constant exposure to dust, dirt and moisture. Ertalon LFX was selected because it requires no lubrication or maintenance, delivers strong wear and abrasion resistance, and performs reliably in harsh environments.

Ertalon LFX: The self-lubricating Nylon

Ertalon LFX is a high-performance engineering plastic from the Ertalon range of materials. It’s a self-lubricating bearing grade that combines excellent wear resistance with high load-bearing capacity. The built-in lubricant within LFX continuously presents itself on the surface during operation, forming a low-friction transfer film that minimises wear, drag and heat build-up. This self-lubricating property eliminates the need for greasing or oiling, reducing maintenance, preventing contamination of the product, and extending component life – even in dirty, wet, or abrasive conditions.
