In high-volume food processing operations, chicken nugget cutting systems play a critical role in ensuring consistent product size, shape, and quality. These cutting components operate within automated production lines, where formed product is precisely cut before moving through downstream processing stages. The cutters are subjected to constant contact with food products and repeated mechanical cycling, requiring materials that can maintain dimensional accuracy, resist wear, and perform reliably in demanding production environments. In this application, custom-machined cutting components were manufactured to replace imported OEM parts used within a chicken nugget production system.
Sustarin C was selected for this application due to its excellent combination of mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and food-contact suitability. The material offers low moisture absorption, allowing it to maintain tight tolerances even in washdown and humid processing environments. Its good wear resistance and low friction characteristics help ensure smooth operation while reducing the risk of premature component failure. These properties make Sustarin C an ideal choice for food processing equipment where precision, durability, and consistent performance are essential.
Leveraging its extensive experience in reverse engineering and precision machining, Dotmar was able to accurately reproduce the OEM components and supply fully finished replacement parts locally. By manufacturing the parts in-house, Dotmar reduced lead times from approximately two months to just two weeks while delivering a cost saving of around 40% compared to the imported OEM alternative. The replacement components performed identically to the originals, providing customers with a reliable, cost-effective solution while minimising production downtime and supply chain delays.
