Sustadur PET GLD 130 (PET-P) Piston Guides
Piston guides are used in pumps, dosing systems, filling equipment and other reciprocating machinery to maintain accurate alignment of a moving piston or piston rod while controlling lateral movement and preventing direct contact between moving components and the surrounding housing. In applications such as high-speed filling and dosing equipment, the guide is exposed to continuous sliding movement, friction, and wear, making material selection critical to maintaining dimensional accuracy and reliable operation. Sustadur PET GLD 130 is particularly suited to these applications as an internally lubricated, bearing-grade material designed for demanding wear applications.
The key advantage of Sustadur PET GLD 130 over standard Sustadur PET-P is its internally dispersed solid lubricant. While standard PET-P already provides excellent wear resistance, low friction, high strength, and dimensional stability, Sustadur PET GLD 130 further reduces friction and wear while providing improved pressure-velocity capability. Sustadur PET GLD 130 has a typical coefficient of friction of 0.15 compared with 0.20 for standard PET-P, making Sustadur PET GLD 130 particularly effective for continuously moving guide components. Its low moisture absorption and strong dimensional stability also help maintain tight clearances in wet or humid environments, reducing the risk of components tightening around the shaft.
Dotmar Engineering Plastics can manufacture precision piston guides and bearing components to suit individual equipment requirements, working from customer drawings, samples or existing components. Dotmar's engineering plastics expertise includes precision CNC machining, 3D scanning and reverse engineering, allowing existing or obsolete components to be digitally captured, assessed and reproduced where drawings are unavailable. This provides a practical solution for replacing worn or difficult-to-source OEM components, while also allowing the material and component design to be reviewed against the specific operating conditions. By combining material selection, reverse engineering and precision machining, Dotmar can deliver locally manufactured Sustadur PET GLD 130 components designed to improve wear performance and equipment reliability
